Esther de Waal to Lecture at Nashotah House
Noted Benedictine scholar and author Esther de Waal, will be lecturing on Benedictine Spirituality at Nashotah House on Monday, June 13, 2016.
de Waal’s books and lectures offer wisdom and insight into the Rule of St. Benedict’s direction on stability, fidelity, and obedience. For over fifteen hundred years St. Benedict’s Rule continues as a source of guidance, support, inspiration, challenge, and comfort.
de Waal is the author of several books on this topic: Seeking God: The Way of St. Benedict; Seeking Life: The Baptismal Invitation of the Rule of St. Benedict; and Lost in Wonder: Rediscovering the Spiritual Art of Attentiveness.
de Waal holds a PhD from Cambridge and received an honorary doctorate from St. John’s University for her contributions to Benedictine studies and for her ecumenical work and was awarded the Templeton Prize for having started the “Benedictine Experience Weeks” which are now held throughout the United States and England. de Waal is a senior fellow of the Cathedral College in Washington, D.C., a sought-after retreat leader and speaker on Benedictine spirituality.
