Meet Rev. Tar Drazdowski!
The Reverend Tar Drazdowski perceived a call to the Diocese of Nebraska to work in mission. She is serving the congregation of Christ Church in Sidney, as the Priest-in-Charge and serving the Diocese of Nebraska as Vicar for Mission. Tar and Jim moved to Sidney in mid-November on a warm bright sunny day and the next day when they were unloading the moving van it was 30 degrees and snowing!
The Drazdowski’s were drawn to Christ Church Sidney because of her faithful people, the historic nature and mission of the church, for the potential of church growth in this rapidly growing western Nebraska town. As Vicar for Mission in the Diocese of Nebraska, Tar sees the opportunity to help create more teams to work with our mission partners in domestic and foreign arenas.
Tar believes that mission work is about building relationships with our partners so that when the work is done and we are long gone, there still remains a spirit of love and tenderness that proclaims through love of Jesus, that we care. When we put our hearts and minds together the Holy Spirit accomplishes amazing things! She believes that in all of our mission efforts we should be striving to see Jesus.
Tar is a graduate of the Vancouver School of Theology (M.Div) where she was immersed in native culture and theology. Previously, both of the Drazdowski’s were educators: Jim was a math teacher for thirty-four years; Tar taught special education, worked as a guidance counselor, and behavior intervention specialist.
Tar and Jim, who have been married for almost thrity-eight years, lived in Valdosta, Georgia for the last nineteen years. They have grown children and four grandchildren, who all live in Georgia. Tar served the people of Christ Church, Valdosta, as their assistant for rector six years.
