Deacon’s Bidding Prayers January 10th, 2015

Jesus Stained Glass Religious Stock Image Each week, the deacons of the Diocese of Nebraska invite everyone to join us in praying for the needs, hopes, concerns, and joys of the world beyond our immediate circles of family, friends, and parish. Deacons are invited to send biddings for prayers for the world to by Thursday noon for each week’s gathering of biddings.

The deacons of our diocese bid your prayers:

For travelers, for those who work outdoors in the cold, and for those who are without shelter. For those who care for people who are cold, hungry, or without shelter.

For the people of Paris and for the victims of this week’s terrorist attacks.

For an end to gun violence in our communities.

For the land, water, and air that sustain life. For wisdom and compassion to prioritize preservation of what is essential over short-term gain. For all those advocating for policies that preserve our environment.

For those who live near the floods in Washington and British Columbia and wildfires in Australia.

For elected officials taking office this month, that they may serve with integrity and keep the needs of people foremost in their considerations.

For people suffering from influenza this winter and for those caring for them.

For people who are ill with the Ebola virus and for those caring for them. For public health officials, troops assigned to west Africa, and for the scientists working on effective medicines or vaccines.

For the people of South Sudan, especially our sisters and brothers of the Diocese of Twic East.
