Deacon’s Bidding Prayers August 22nd 2014
The deacons of our diocese bid your prayers:
For the people of Ferguson, Missouri; for justice and peace to prevail there and throughout our nation. For all innocent people who are made to feel unsafe because of their race, gender, sexuality, or appearance.
For all those around the world affected this week by heavy rains and floods, landslides, wildfires, and drought. For wisdom, courage, compassion, and the spirit of truth to respond appropriately to global warming now and in years ahead.
For people who are ill with the Ebola virus and for those caring for them. For public health officials and for the scientists working on a vaccine.
For the people of South Sudan, especially our sisters and brothers of the Diocese of Twic East.
For peace in all of the Middle East. For those who are persecuted or oppressed because of their religion or ethnic group. For wisdom for the leaders of nations.
For refugees, especially unaccompanied children and families with young children, that they might find the safety and security they seek and compassionate people to help them.
For James Foley’s family, friends, and colleagues as they mourn his death. For Steven Sotloff and those close to him, and for a conversion of heart for his captors.
