Jesus Stained Glass Religious Stock Image Each week, the deacons of the Diocese of Nebraska invite everyone to join us in praying for the needs, hopes, concerns, and joys of the world beyond our immediate circles of family, friends, and parish. Deacons are invited to send biddings for prayers for the world to by Thursday noon for each week’s gathering of biddings.

The deacons of our diocese bid your prayers:

For our schools, colleges, and universities, and for those who teach, learn, or work in them. For our schools to be places of safety, learning, and growth for both students and teachers.

For peace in all of the Middle East, and especially for an end to the violence in Gaza. For all who have lost loved ones in the violence, and for innocent people who stand in harm’s way. For wisdom for the leaders of nations.

For all those around the world affected this week by typhoons, wildfires, drought, heat, flooding, and landslides, and especially for the people of Hawai’i. For all God’s creatures who live in the sea or on land. For wisdom, courage, compassion, and the spirit of truth to respond appropriately to global warming now and in years ahead.

For people who are ill with the Ebola virus and for those caring for them. For public health officials and for the scientists working on a vaccine.

For the people of South Sudan, especially our sisters and brothers of the Diocese of Twic East.

For refugees, especially unaccompanied children and families with young children, that they might find the safety and security they seek and compassionate people to help them.

For United States military personnel killed in the Middle East the week of July 20th: Donnell Hamilton, Benjamin Prange of Hickman, Nebraska and Keith Williams, and for Major General Harold J. Greene, killed this week in Afghanistan. For comfort for their families, friends, and colleagues.
