Deacon’s Bidding Prayers August 2nd 2014
The deacons of our diocese bid your prayers:
For peace in all of the Middle East, and especially for an end to the violence in Gaza. For all who have lost loved ones in the violence, and for innocent people who stand in harm’s way.
For the people of South Sudan, especially our sisters and brothers of the Diocese of Twic East.
For people who are ill with the Ebola virus and for those caring for them.
For refugees, especially unaccompanied children and families with young children, that they might find the safety and security they seek and compassionate people to help them.
For openness and compassion to replace our fears of people who are different from us in some way.
For those who are poor, lonely, hungry, or in any kind of need, and for those who care for them. For the work of Downtown Episcopal Outreach, backpack and sack lunch programs across the diocese, Church of Our Savior’s Wednesday night meals, and others who feed the hungry in Christ’s name.
For all those around the world affected this week by typhoons, wildfires, drought, heat, flooding, and landslides. For all God’s creatures who live in the sea or on land. For wisdom, courage, and compassion to face our reality and respond appropriately to global warming now and in years ahead.
