Proclaiming the Good News of God in Christ

Deacon’s Bidding Prayers July 25th 2014

Jesus Stained Glass Religious Stock Image Each week, the deacons of the Diocese of Nebraska invite everyone to join us in praying for the needs, hopes, concerns, and joys of the world beyond our immediate circles of family, friends, and parish. Deacons are invited to send biddings for prayers for the world to by Thursday noon for each week’s gathering of biddings.

The deacons of our diocese bid your prayers:

For peace in all of the Middle East, and especially for an end to the recent violence in Gaza and Israel.

For the people of South Sudan, and especially for our sisters and brothers of the Diocese of Twic East.

For those who are poor, lonely, hungry, or in any kind of need, and for those who care for them. For the work of Downtown Episcopal Outreach, backpack and sack lunch programs across the diocese, Church of Our Savior’s Wednesday night meals, and others who feed the hungry in Christ’s name.

For the families, friends, and colleagues of all those who have died in air disasters this month.

For refugees, especially unaccompanied children and families with young children, that they might find the safety and security they seek and compassionate people to help them. For openness and compassion to replace fear.

For an end to gun violence in the United States, and for the will to set aside the selfish desires and idols that keep us from doing everything possible to create a safer society.

For all those affected this week by typhoons, wildfires, drought, heat, and flooding. For all God’s creatures who live in the sea or on land. For wisdom, courage, and compassion to face our reality and respond appropriately to global warming now and in years ahead.
