Jesus Stained Glass Religious Stock Image Each week, the deacons of the Diocese of Nebraska invite everyone to join us in praying for the needs, hopes, concerns, and joys of the world beyond our immediate circles of family, friends, and parish. Deacons are invited to send biddings for prayers for the world to deaconbetsy@windstream.net by Thursday noon for each week’s gathering of biddings.

The deacons of our diocese bid your prayers:

For those who continue to suffer and grieve as a result of the events of September 11, 2001. For healing for our nation.

For an end to war and violence, and for a lasting peace in the Middle East and throughout the world.

For security at home and an end to gun violence in our own nation

For world leaders preparing for the UN Climate Summit, that his meeting might be a significant turning point in a constructive response to climate change.

For all those around the world by heavy rains and floods, landslides, wildfires, rising oceans, and drought.

For people who are ill with the Ebola virus and for those caring for them. For public health officials and for the scientists working on effective medicines or vaccines.

For the victims of abuse at home or in the workplace. For a public response to abuse that makes it clear that abuse is never acceptable.

For all refugees, especially unaccompanied children and families with young children, that they might find the safety and security they seek and compassionate people to help them.

For the people of South Sudan, especially our sisters and brothers of the Diocese of Twic East.

For seasonable weather and an abundance of the fruits of the earth as harvest time nears. For safekeeping for those who work in the fields, drive grain trucks, or process grain.

For people who are ill with the Ebola virus and for those caring for them. For public health officials and for the scientists working on effective medicines or vaccines.

For people affected by recent earthquakes in California.

For people who live in island nations looking for new homes as the oceans rise.

For all refugees, especially unaccompanied children and families with young children, that they might find the safety and security they seek and compassionate people to help them.

For all those around the world by heavy rains and floods, landslides, wildfires, and drought. For us to find the wisdom, courage, compassion, and the spirit of truth to respond appropriately to global warming now and in years ahead.

For the people of Ferguson, Missouri; for justice and peace to prevail there and throughout our nation. For all innocent people who are made to feel unsafe because of their race, gender, sexuality, or appearance.

For the people of South Sudan, especially our sisters and brothers of the Diocese of Twic East.

For peace in all of the Middle East. For those who are persecuted or oppressed because of their religion or ethnic group. For wisdom for the leaders of nations.

For the people of Ferguson, Missouri; for justice and peace to prevail there and throughout our nation. For all innocent people who are made to feel unsafe because of their race, gender, sexuality, or appearance.

For all those around the world affected this week by heavy rains and floods, landslides, wildfires, and drought. For wisdom, courage, compassion, and the spirit of truth to respond appropriately to global warming now and in years ahead.

For people who are ill with the Ebola virus and for those caring for them. For public health officials and for the scientists working on a vaccine.

For the people of South Sudan, especially our sisters and brothers of the Diocese of Twic East.

For peace in all of the Middle East. For those who are persecuted or oppressed because of their religion or ethnic group. For wisdom for the leaders of nations.

For refugees, especially unaccompanied children and families with young children, that they might find the safety and security they seek and compassionate people to help them.

For James Foley’s family, friends, and colleagues as they mourn his death. For Steven Sotloff and those close to him, and for a conversion of heart for his captors.

For our schools, colleges, and universities, and for those who teach, learn, or work in them. For our schools to be places of safety, learning, and growth for both students and teachers.

For the people of Ferguson, Missouri, and for the family and friends of Michael Brown; for justice and peace to prevail there and throughout our nation. For all innocent people who are made to feel unsafe because of their race, gender, sexuality, or appearance.

For all those around the world affected this week by heavy rains and floods, landslides, typhoons, wildfires, and drought. For wisdom, courage, compassion, and the spirit of truth to respond appropriately to global warming now and in years ahead.

For people who are ill with the Ebola virus and for those caring for them. For public health officials and for the scientists working on a vaccine.

For people with depression and other forms of mental illness and for those who care for them and those who live or work with them. For greater public understanding of invisible suffering.

For the people of South Sudan, especially our sisters and brothers of the Diocese of Twic East.

For peace in all of the Middle East; for an end to the violence in Gaza and in Iraq. For wisdom for the leaders of nations.

For refugees, especially unaccompanied children and families with young children, that they might find the safety and security they seek and compassionate people to help them.

For United States military personnel killed in the Middle East the week of July 27th: Yeshabel Villotcarrasco. For comfort for Yeshabel’s families, friends, and colleagues.

For United States military personnel killed in the Middle East the week of July 20th: Donnell Hamilton, Benjamin Prange of Hickman, Nebraska and Keith Williams, and for Major General Harold J. Greene, killed this week in Afghanistan. For comfort for their families, friends, and colleagues.

For peace in all of the Middle East, and especially for an end to the violence in Gaza. For all who have lost loved ones in the violence, and for innocent people who stand in harm’s way.

For the people of South Sudan, especially our sisters and brothers of the Diocese of Twic East.

For people who are ill with the Ebola virus and for those caring for them.

For refugees, especially unaccompanied children and families with young children, that they might find the safety and security they seek and compassionate people to help them.

For openness and compassion to replace our fears of people who are different from us in some way.

For those who are poor, lonely, hungry, or in any kind of need, and for those who care for them. For the work of Downtown Episcopal Outreach, backpack and sack lunch programs across the diocese, Church of Our Savior’s Wednesday night meals, and others who feed the hungry in Christ’s name.

For all those around the world affected this week by typhoons, wildfires, drought, heat, flooding, and landslides. For all God’s creatures who live in the sea or on land. For wisdom, courage, and compassion to face our reality and respond appropriately to global warming now and in years ahead.

For peace in all of the Middle East, and especially for an end to the recent violence in Gaza and Israel.

For the people of South Sudan, and especially for our sisters and brothers of the Diocese of Twic East.

For those who are poor, lonely, hungry, or in any kind of need, and for those who care for them. For the work of Downtown Episcopal Outreach, backpack and sack lunch programs across the diocese, Church of Our Savior’s Wednesday night meals, and others who feed the hungry in Christ’s name.

For the families, friends, and colleagues of all those who have died in air disasters this month.

For refugees, especially unaccompanied children and families with young children, that they might find the safety and security they seek and compassionate people to help them. For openness and compassion to replace fear.

For an end to gun violence in the United States, and for the will to set aside the selfish desires and idols that keep us from doing everything possible to create a safer society.

For all those affected this week by typhoons, wildfires, drought, heat, and flooding. For all God’s creatures who live in the sea or on land. For wisdom, courage, and compassion to face our reality and respond appropriately to global warming now and in years ahead.

For refugees, especially unaccompanied children and families with young children, that they might find the safety and security they seek and compassionate people to help them. For openness and compassion to replace fear.

For an end to gun violence in the United States, and for the will to set aside the selfish desires and idols that keep us from doing everything possible to create a safer society.

For all those affected this week by typhoons, wildfires, and flooding. For people working to rebuild communities after tornadoes and hailstorms.

For all God’s creatures who live in the sea or on land. For all those whose homes, livelihoods, and welfare are already affected or endangered by the impacts of climate change. For wisdom, courage, and compassion to face our reality and respond appropriately to climate change now and in years ahead.

For refugees, especially unaccompanied children and families with young children, that they might find the safety and security they seek and compassionate people to help them.

For an end to gun violence in the United States, and for the will to set aside the selfish desires and idols that keep us from doing everything possible to create a safer society.

For farmers whose crops have been damaged by hail and wind, and for people dealing with floods and heavy rains several places in the world. For all those who have suffered loss and trauma in recent tornadoes and storms and for those who are working to help rebuild communities.

For everyone attending the Episcopal Youth Event. For the church to be increasingly open to hearing, seeing, and including our children and youth.

For hearts to celebrate the diversity of God’s people and to have compassion for one another. For all those who are discounted, belittled, or excluded because of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disabilities.

For peace throughout the world. We pray especially for peace in Israel, Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, South Sudan, and in our own communities.

For all those whose homes, livelihoods, and welfare are already affected or endangered by the impacts of climate change. For wisdom, courage, and compassion to face our reality and respond appropriately to climate change now and in years ahead.

For those in the path of Hurricane Arthur. For people dealing with floods and heavy rains several places in the world. For people who have suffered loss and trauma in tornadoes and storms and for those who are working to help rebuild communities.

For people living and trying to grow food in drought-stricken places.

For wisdom, courage, and compassion to face our reality and respond appropriately to climate change now and in years ahead.

For hearts to celebrate the diversity of God’s people and to have compassion for one another.

For an end to gun violence in the United States, and for the will to set aside the selfish desires and idols that keep us from doing everything possible to create a safer society.
